The illustrious acting career of attorney George A. Dionisopoulos began and ended in high school.

But his love of the performing arts and local history only grew.

Throughout his career at Foley & Lardner, Dionisopoulos has been an active member in numerous organizations including the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Old World Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Historical Society.

“I’ve tried to look at different types of community organizations where my skills might be able to make an impact and that don’t involve getting me up on stage,” he said. “I have major stage fright.”

But as an Estates & Trusts attorney, Dionisopoulos has been an asset for organizations.

Last year, he helped launch “The Limelight,” planned giving society for the Milwaukee Rep, designed to secure long-term donors under their estate plans.

He also serves as the co-chair of the Legal Services Division of the 2010 United Performing Arts Fund annual campaign, which seeks to raise donations from those in the legal profession.

“In terms of the business side of organizations, I think I have been able to bring experience and advice on connections, donors and resources,” he said.

As passionate as he is in his support of the arts, Dionisopoulos maintains working relationships with clients he started working with 30 years ago.

One of which includes a woman who now lives in South Africa. Dionisopoulos serves as trustee for her estate and has cites her humanitarian work as an inspiration.

Dionisopoulos has also worked with three people who have won the lottery and helped each take steps to manage their assets.

“One person won 20 years ago and the annual payments just ended,” he said. “I think in the type of practice I have, I’ve really come to obtain an appreciation of each individual person I work with,” he said.
