Daniel Kersey - Quarles & Brady

Dan Kersey is the epitome of a team player.

Kersey, a partner in Quarles & Brady’s Business Law Practice Group, always brings a positive attitude into the office and goes above and beyond to meet the firm’s needs.

He regularly represents buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, and also helps clients with complex commercial agreements.

“Transactional work is fun because each transaction presents a business opportunity for both my client and the counterparty — whether it involves expanding a line of business or divesting of a business to focus on other opportunities,” Kersey said. “Internally at the firm, I am passionate about mentoring younger associates.”

Generous with his time, Kersey is often sought out by both younger associates and his peers for guidance on substantive issues and navigating the softer interpersonal aspects of a sophisticated law practice.

“Dan is a burgeoning leader who has been cultivating the critical triumvirate of excellent technical legal skills, an engaging personality that quickly establishes rapport with everyone he meets and a service mentality with both clients and colleagues,” said Scott Bussen, senior manager of communications at Quarles & Brady.

One of the biggest challenges in his work is that every transaction is different and involves new and unique issues. Some involve legal challenges, such as environmental exposure at a plant site, while others present operational challenges, such as employee onboarding and benefits integration.

“Quickly adapting to an ever-changing set of circumstances is a fun challenge,” Kersey said. “I am fortunate to have such a deep group of talented lawyers at my firm in a variety of practice areas who are able to help advise our clients as issues arise.”
