Marquette honors four attorneys with 2022 Alumni National Awards

Four Marquette Law School graduates were honored with awards as part of Marquette University’s Alumni National Awards. The university announced the full list of honorees Monday. Among them were four attorneys, representing various firms and organizations across the state and Illinois.

Christine Wilde Woleske received the Alumna of the Year award. Woleske graduated from Marquette Law School in 1994. She is now the CEO and president of Bellin Health in Green Bay. Woleske was elected to Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2020.

Marquette Law’s Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Michael Gonring, a retired partner of Quarles & Brady. Gonring graduated from the Law School in 1982 and served as the executive director of the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee. He still provides pro bono legal services throughout various legal clinics and organizations in Milwaukee.

Godfrey & Kahn partner, Rebeca López received the Howard B. Eisenberg Service award. A 2012 Law School graduate, López serves as a member on Governor Tony Evers’s Judicial Selection Advisory Committee and has done so since 2019.

The Charles W. Mentkowski Sports Law Alumnus of the Year award was presented to Andy Shiffman. Now a Chicago resident, Shiffman is the executive vice president of basketball representation for Priority Sports. He graduated from Marquette Law in 2009 and now serves as a member of the National Sports Law Institute’s Board of Advisors.
