Tricia Walker has been appointed to the Fond du Lac County Circuit Court, making her the third Asian-American ever to serve as a Wisconsin state court judge.

Gov. Tony Evers announced her appointment on Wednesday. She’ll fill a vacancy on Branch IV created by Judge Gary R. Sharpe’s retirement.

Walker operates her own law firm, the Law Office of Tricia L. Walker in Campbellsport, where she represents clients in criminal defense, family law, guardianships, evictions, estate planning and other matters.

She is a board member for Campbellsport Theater Board and Mahala’s Hope, a substance use recovery facility. She is a past board member for the Campbellsport Library. Walker also donates her time as a volunteer attorney with the Fond du Lac Pro Se Legal Clinic, which provides legal advice to unrepresented people in family law disputes.

Sharpe said Walker has appeared before him many times, and he’s been consistently impressed with her preparation, presentation and underlying knowledge. He said Branch IV is in good hands with Walker’s sense of fairness, grasp of the law, uncompromising ethics and judicial demeanor.

Walker said she’s committed to serving as a fair and conscientious judge, and she’s looking forward to serving Fond du Lac County.

Walker is a graduate of Marquette University Law School and the University of Wisconsin – Platteville.
