A complaint filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Wisconsin accuses a 22-year-old neo-Nazi of vandalizing a Racine synagogue in September. On Friday, federal prosecutors charged Yousef Barasneh of Oak Creek for the crime.
The complaint alleges Barasneh is a member of an extremist neo-Nazi group and conspired with other members to vandalize minority-owned property in September. The Department of Justice says Barasneh spray-painted swastikas and anti-Semitic words on the outside of the Beth Israeli Sinai Congregation synagogue in Racine.
Barasneh could spend up to 10 years in prison and owe $250,000 in fines if convicted.
