Two new laws are meant to make communications easier for attorneys. Gov. Tony Evers signed the bills into law Wednesday.

2019 Wisconsin Act 29 allows a plaintiff to serve a government entity by hand delivery, in addition to certified mail.

2019 Wisconsin Act 30 permits attorneys to email certain pleadings and other papers to clients and other attorneys after obtaining consent. The amendment changed a law that required such documents be delivered by hand or fax to offices or residences.

Evers also signed a bill to set a five-year minimum for OWI homicides.
