Childs appointed as Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge

Milwaukee County’s newest circuit court judge is Milton Childs, a managing attorney at the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office.

Gov. Tony Evers announced his appointment on Tuesday. Childs will fill a vacancy that opened up when Judge Joe Donald was appointed to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals District 1 in September.

Childs is a Milwaukee native who earned his juris doctor from Marquette University Law School. He’s worked as a public defender for 15 years and tried more than 150 cases to verdict. Before attending law school, Childs was a math teacher for 12 years and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years.
