A Milwaukee lawyer will lose her license for six months as a result of nearly a dozen misconduct charges.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation previously charged Courtney Kelbel of Kelbel Law Offices SC with 11 counts of misconduct stemming from five separate client complaints. The clients had hired Kelbel for help with matters related to short sales, foreclosures and bankruptcy. They said Kelbel ultimately didn’t work on their cases, despite receiving payment.

The OLR said Kelbel never responded to its numerous attempts to discuss the complaints with her. Her license was temporarily suspended in October 2018 for failing to cooperate.

On Tuesday, the state Supreme Court suspended her license for an additional six months, starting immediately. She also has to pay $5,662.25 for court proceedings and restitution to the Wisconsin Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection, which had reimbursed Kelbel’s clients for her legal fees.

The phone number listed for Kelbel Law Offices is not in service.
