A Hartford man who worked as a pimp could spend life in prison for forcing women and at least one minor to work for him as prostitutes.
47-year-old Christopher Childs of Hartford pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion in federal court Thursday.
The Eastern District of Wisconsin District Attorney’s Office said that Childs, in his plea agreement, acknowledged that he had worked as a pimp in the Milwaukee area, recruiting women and at least one minor to work for him as a prostitute. He said he took them to strip clubs and other places around the state, naming TNT and the Hardware Store, and used fraud, coercion, force and threats against the women.
As part of his plea agreement, Childs agreed six women could be considered victims for sentencing. He is faced with punishments ranging from 15 years to life in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The judge scheduled his sentencing for May 2020.
