Rosenberg fights for equal justice for all

In her less-than three years as an Assistant State Public Defender, Arial Rosenberg has already earned a reputation for being intelligent and tenacious in every case that she is a part of.

Rosenberg has had countless trial successes and has become known as a “go-to” person in the office. She has also led training sessions in the office dealing with everything from due process to juvenile adjudications and adult convictions.

“She has litigated myriad cases to a jury, winning the overwhelming majority of them,” said Colin McGinn, a fellow attorney in the public defender’s office. “That statistic alone is remarkable, because if the system works as it is supposed to, the defense loses every time.

“Her colleagues know they can always come to her office for advice, feedback or an open ear,” he added. “(Arial) walks the walk, and the Milwaukee Trial Office is a stronger office because of her contributions.”

Outside of work, Rosenberg volunteers her time in various ways in Milwaukee. Her tireless advocacy for her clients goes far beyond the courtroom, touching not only the city she serves but also the people within it.

Rosenberg said the only reward she needs is knowing she has helped clients and helped make their loads a little lighter.

“I’m in it for the empowering feeling of doing something that I truly believe is worthwhile,” Rosenberg said. “The most prestigious award I have been honored with is the thanks from a client after achieving a favorable result. All my life I’ve wanted to do something that would make a difference in people’s lives. Being a public defender, I’ve found that. I am a public defender because equal justice should be a reality.”
