After graduating from the University of Minnesota, Nicole Druckrey got a job as an administrative assistant at the federal courthouse in Minneapolis.

Druckrey, who earned an undergraduate degree in sociology with a criminal-justice emphasis, looked around at all the people who worked at the courthouse — the judges, law clerks and lawyers — and saw so many different jobs that one could do with a law degree.

Even some of the FBI agents, probation officers and operations managers had law degrees.

“I thought the degree was versatile and, given my background in criminal justice, I thought it would be a good next step,” Druckrey said.

That step led her to the University of Minnesota Law School, where she graduated cum laude. She began her legal career in Minneapolis, but soon came to Wisconsin where she had strong family ties.

Druckrey worked at Quarles & Brady for nearly 10 years, where she was partner and chair of the firm’s Trade Secrets and Unfair Competition Practice Group.

“Her dedication and resolve to serve client’s needs, address community issues and fight for those most in need of legal protection is a testament to Nicole’s commitment to the law and the people our law serves and protects,” said Kevin Long, a partner at Quarles & Brady.

In 2018, she moved into her current role at the Brady Corp. as assistant general counsel.

The job keeps her busy — something that Druckrey said she doesn’t mind — with its wide variety of projects.

“Today, for example, I’ll advise our folks in Brazil regarding a contract breach; help our folks in the U.S., Belgium and Mexico negotiate and finalize some contracts; … (and) speak with outside counsel regarding an upcoming trial in the UK,” she said.

Druckrey ticked off a few more tasks before adding: “And try to leave on time to get to my son’s baseball game.”

Time outside the office, whether it’s spent working as a volunteer or with family, is also a priority to Druckrey. She has served on the board of directors for several organizations, including the Oak Creek Little League, Ebenezer Child Care Centers and the City of Oak Creek Community Development Authority.

“My dad was a lawyer, and he was always helping others, so I’ve tried to follow his example,” Druckrey said. “I generally enjoy helping people, particularly when I can use my law degree to do so.”
