Gov. Tony Evers has appointed an assistant corporation counsel to be the top prosecutor in Columbia County.
Evers announced on Wednesday that he had appointed Brenda Yaskal to fill the position left vacant by Tristan Eagon, who abruptly resigned in April after being appointed in December to the post by then-Gov. Scott Walker.
Yaskal will complete Eagon’s term, which ends in January 2021.
Yaskal, who earned her law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2006, is assistant corporation counsel for Sauk County, handing mental health commitments and child-in-need-of-protection-services petitions. Before that, Yaskal spent 10 years as an assistant prosecutor in Columbia County. Follow @erikastrebel
