Gov. Tony Evers recently appointed a former candidate for clerk of circuit court to the vacant Racine County register of deeds position.
Evers announced on Friday that he had chosen Connie Madsen to be the new Racine County register of deeds. She will fill the position formerly held by Tyson Fettes, who resigned on April 26.
Madsen was a recent candidate in last year’s election for Racine County Clerk of Circuit Court. She was defeated by the incumbent, Samuel Christensen.
Madsen worked for nearly a decade in law enforcement, in the Racine County Sheriff’s Office and Racine Police Department, before spending more than a decade in the victim-witness-assistance program in Racine County District Attorney’s Office. Before coming back to Racine in 2018 to run for clerk, she worked in local government in rural Alabama. Follow @erikastrebel
