Four lawyers vying for a seat on the Ozaukee County Circuit Court will face off at a candidates forum organized by the Ozaukee County Bar Association.

The forum will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Common Council Chambers in Mequon City Hall, 11333 N. Cedarburg Road.

The lawyers Steve Cain, Angela Foy, Mark Larson and James Wawrzyn are running for a seat on Branch 2. The seat is now held by Judge Joseph Voiland.

Cain is a partner at Stippich, Selin & Cain in Cedarburg. He earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1999. He is also a judge on the Mid-Moraine Municipal Court, which handles cases from places in Ozaukee and Washington counties.

Foy, who earned her law degree from MU Law School in 2006, is a shareholder at Halling & Cayo in Milwaukee. She works on trusts and estates, family law and appellate matters.

Larson, who earned his law degree from MU Law School in 1986, is a shareholder at Gutglass, Erickson, Bonville & Larson in Milwaukee. He practices medical-malpractice defense and general-liability defense.

Wawrzyn, who also earned his law degree from MU Law School in 2006, is an attorney at von Briesen & Roper’s Milwaukee Office. He practices business and corporate law.

Before law school, Wawrzyn had worked on the policy staff for Gov. Tommy Thompson and Gov. Scott McCallum and was a committee clerk for the Wisconsin State Senate.

The Ozaukee County race is one of three contested circuit court races in the spring election.

Voters head to the polls on Feb. 19 to decide which two candidates will advance to the election on April 2.
