MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Milwaukee man accused of killing two men following a dice game has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
The Journal Sentinel reports that 44-year-old Antonio Mays was found guilty in October of felony murder, first-degree reckless homicide and two counts of possessing a firearm as a felon.
Authorities say Mays fatally shot 20-year-old Malyk Smith and 34-year-old Romale Richardson. Witnesses said a relative of Mays lost money in the dice game and Mays returned to the house with a gun.
Richardson managed to shoot and wound Mays, who showed up a hospital with three gunshot wounds.
Milwaukee County Circuit Judge David Borowski described the killings as part of the “ongoing saga, the tragedy” of people shooting each other “for no reason whatsoever” as he looked directly at Mays.
