MADISON, Wis. (AP) — New campaign finance reports show the Democratic attorney general candidate, Josh Kaul, is winning the fundraising battle over te Republican incumbent, Brad Schimel, as Election Day approaches.
Kaul raised $845,440 between Sept. 1 and Oct. 22, far more than the $484,260 brought in by Schimel. Kaul got a number of sizeable donations from labor organizations, including $40,000 from the Wisconsin Carpenters PAC and $39,000 from the Wisconsin Teamsters Joint Council 39.
Kaul has outpaced Schimel since the beginning of 2018, raising $1.8 million since Jan. 1. Schimel has raised $1.4 million.
Kaul finished the period with $633,745 in the bank. Schimel finished with $106,484.
Schimel spent $1.5 million during the September-October period and has spent $1.8 million since Jan. 1. Kaul spent $1.1 million during the reporting period and has spent $1.4 million since the beginning of the year.
