Law firm to offer breast milk shipping for employees
Milwaukee-based Michael Best & Friedrich recently announced that its breastfeeding employees who travel for business will soon be able to ship their breast milk home by overnight delivery.
The firm will pay the full cost of the service, which will be through Milk Stork.
Firm gives Madison attorney props for pro bono work
DeWitt Ross & Stevens recently announced that Laura Davis of the firm’s Madison office has received the Jack DeWitt Pro Bono Award.
The award recognizes one attorney or team of attorneys each year for their pro bono legal services and is in memory of Jack DeWitt, a founding partner of DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. who died in 2012 at age 93.
Davis’ passion for pro bono legal service began in undergraduate school where she volunteered as a court appointed special advocate. Her service continued in law school where she worked for the Wisconsin Innocence Project and received the Melvin Friedman Memorial Scholarship for her outstanding work in the role.
In addition to her pro bono service, Davis has contributed to establishing a formal pro bono policy and committee within the firm to centralize the firm’s pro bono activities.
Milwaukee shareholder to help lead firm’s new practice group
Ogletree Deakins has launched a practice group focusing on the manufacturing industry.
The practice group will be led by Milwaukee shareholder Bud Bobber and Denver shareholder Robin Repass.
The attorneys in the Manufacturing Practice Group counsel clients about U.S. operations as well as clients’ manufacturing and supply chain operations abroad.
Quarles & Brady expands in Minnesota
Quarles & Brady recently announced that it has opened a new office in downtown Minneapolis.
The office is at Fifth Street Towers, 150 S. 5th St., Suite 1800. It is the firm’s 11th office in the nation.
Four Quarles attorneys as well as an administrative team will work out of the office. Those attorneys include Daniel Young, a partner specializing in business law; Isaac Roang, a partner in the firm’s real estate law practice; Peter Kaiser, a business law attorney; and Michael Larson, an attorney in the firm’s intellectual property practice group.
Commercial litigator joins Mallery & Zimmerman
Mallery & Zimmerman recently announced that Scott Wagner has joined the firm as a shareholder in its Milwaukee office.
Wagner, who earned his degree from Marquette University Law School in 1989, has more than 29 years of experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation such as shareholder disputes, contract disputes and securities fraud by majority shareholders.
Godfrey & Kahn attorney earns privacy certification
Godfrey & Kahn recently announced that Milwaukee attorney Kathryn Allen is now a Certified Information Privacy Professional through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
The association is a global information privacy community and resource.
Allen, who graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2016, focuses on statutory requirements governing data breaches in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. She also reviews and updates her clients’ privacy policies and terms of use to ensure they comply with their industries’ regulatory landscape.
Foundation recognizes 2 DeWitt Ross & Stevens attorneys
DeWitt Ross & Stevens recently announced that Christopher Krimmer, who practices family law in the firm’s Madison office, and Brian Smigelski, a construction litigation attorney in the firm’s Brookfield office, have been named to this year’s class of Fellows of the Wisconsin Law Foundation.
Krimmer and Smigelski were recognized at the Fellows of the Wisconsin Law Foundation Recognition Dinner on Sept. 13 at the Grain Exchange in downtown Milwaukee.
The Fellows of the Wisconsin Law Foundation is a program that recognizes members of the profession in Wisconsin who are known by their peers for high achievements and outstanding contributions to the administration of justice in the state.
Murphy Desmond adds attorney
Murphy Desmond recently announced that it has hired Kristin Beilke as an associate in the firm’s creditors’ rights, business bankruptcy and commercial litigation practice group as well as the firm’s bilingual legal services team.
Beilke, who is based in the firm’s Madison office, represents creditors and debtors in all chapters of bankruptcy as well as civil matters.
Beilke, who earned her law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2010, has appeared on more than 2,400 bankruptcy cases and is fluent in Spanish.
