Foley & Lardner attorneys have helped a Neenah-based plastics manufacturer get the first permit of its kind in Wisconsin.

A team of Foley attorneys helped Bemis Co. Inc. get an air pollution permit that was issued on Tuesday, the firm announced.

The plant-wide applicability permit, or PAL permit, eliminates the need for companies to create separate emissions caps and permitting processes for each component within a plant. Although the permit has been available for the last 15 years, it’s the first to be issued in Wisconsin.

Getting a PAL requires a permit action that includes both a public notice period and a review by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The team that counseled Bemis on the permit includes Partner Mark Thimke, who works in the firm’s Milwaukee office, and Special Counsel Jennifer Van Wie, who works out of the firm’s Chicago office.
