Gov. Scott Walker has appointed an Eau Claire solo practitioner to fill the top prosecutor spot in Barron County.
Walker announced May 16 that he had tapped Brian Wright to be the Barron County district attorney. He will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Barron County District Attorney Angel Beranek.
In addition to running his own law practice, Wright prosecutes ordinance and traffic violations as the municipal attorney for the villages of Lake Hallie and Cadott.
Wright, who earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1993, was previously an Eau Claire County Circuit Court judge, a civil litigator at Eau Claire-based Herrick & Hart and the Eau Claire district attorney.
