The Director of State Courts will be hosting court interpreter training next month.
The training will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 16 and June 17 at the Hotel Mead Conference Center, 451 E. Grand Ave., Wisconsin Rapids. The training costs $195, which includes lunch and all materials. Although the courts most often seek Spanish interpreters, limited scholarships are available for some non-Spanish languages.
The Director of State Courts Office will accept applications for the training until June 1.
The training, which is the first step to becoming a certified interpreter, gives participants an introductory overview of the needs and expectations courts have for interpreters. Participants who complete the training as well as meet other requirements will be placed on a public roster of interpreters used by courts, law enforcement, attorneys and law-related agencies.
