LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — A La Crosse woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for providing the drugs that killed a man early last year.
Thirty-eight-year-old Takeyhia Potts sold a fatal dose of heroin mixed with fentanyl to the 26-year-old Casey Eggen, who was found dead in his apartment.
WKBT-TV says that during sentencing proceedings on Tuesday, Judge Scott Horne told Potts she should’ve known there was a chance Eggen would die when she sold him the drugs. Potts earlier entered a no-contest plea to first-degree reckless homicide.
Potts will also serve five years of extended supervision. She will be given credit for 444 days already served.
