Gov. Scott Walker has appointed a Black River Falls attorney to be the Jackson County District Attorney.

Walker announced on Tuesday that Daniel Diehn will replace Gerald Fox, who died unexpectedly last year.

Diehn, who runs his own law firm, has practiced in various areas of law in Black River Falls since 1996. Since 2008, he has been court commissioner in Jackson County, presiding over criminal, family and small-claims hearings. Diehn was City Attorney for Black River Falls from 1999 to 2014 and was elected again last year.

Diehn earned his law degree from the Phoenix-based Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 1995.
