MEQUON, Wis. (AP) — Two teens from Sturgeon Bay are facing numerous criminal charges after police say they found assault rifles and drugs during a traffic stop in the Ozaukee County community of Mequon.
Willard Hartman and Benjamin Krohn, both, 19, have been released on $5,000 cash bonds following an appearance in court earlier this week. A criminal complaint says Krohn told police he and Hartman were in Mequon to watch a friend play basketball at Homestead High School.
The Journal Sentinel reports an officer reportedly smelled marijuana during the stop on Feb. 10. A search of the vehicle turned up three assault rifles and two handguns, all with loaded magazines.
The complaint says Krohn brought the guns along “in case he wanted to trade or sell them to someone.” Police say marijuana and oxycodone were also found in the car.
