Gov. Scott Walker has appointed an assistant attorney general to temporarily replace a retiring Rock County judge.

Walker recently announced that Karl Hanson will serve out the rest of Rock County Circuit Court Judge James Daley’s term, which ends in 2020.

In addition to his work as a assistant attorney general at the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Hanson, who graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2008, is also a municipal judge in the towns of Milton, Harmony and Lima. Before that, he was an attorney at the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission, the Office of State Employment Relations and Janesville-based Nowlan & Mouat.

Before he began his legal career, Hanson had spent 10 years as an officer in the United States Army and Wisconsin National Guard.
