KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — A city alderman in Kenosha is accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend for more than four years.
Authorities allege John Ruffolo harassed the woman between February 2013 and July 2017 despite repeated pleas from her to stop and warnings from police.
Ruffolo’s bond was set at $10,000 cash Wednesday. Defense attorney Patrick Cafferty said in court that there are no allegations that Ruffolo used weapons, or threatened force or sexual assault.
Ruffolo was ordered to have no contact with the woman. He’s due back in court for a preliminary hearing Aug. 25.
The charge against him carries a maximum punishment of 1-½ years in person and a $10,000 fine.
