A reinstatement hearing has been scheduled for a former Elm Grove lawyer whose license has been suspended since 2011.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court in 2016 suspended James Schoenecker’s license for one year over allegations that he had defrauded GameMaster LLC, a company he had opened in West Allis with some friends. Schoenecker is alleged to have misappropriated more than $150,000 from May 30, 2012 to October 2013, charging more than $28,000 in personal expenses to the company’s business account and nearly $6,000 in non-business expenses to its credit card, among other things.

Schoenecker’s license was already suspended. In 2011, the justices had suspended his license for three years for, among other things, stealing money from his former fiancé, submitting false documents in his own bankruptcy and setting up his own law firm without telling the firm he was already working for.

Schoenecker petitioned the court in January to reinstate his license. A public reinstatement hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 18 in the board room of the Milwaukee Bar Association, 424 E. Wells St. Those interested may testify for or in opposition to Schoenecker’s petition for reinstatement.
