MILWAUKEE (AP) — Authorities at the Milwaukee County Jail are trying to catch up with a two-day backlog of bookings after its computer system crashed.
Fran McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, says the system went down Wednesday morning and was back up and running by late Thursday.
While the system was down, authorities at the jail and Milwaukee County’s House of Correction handled bookings and releases manually. McLaughlin says officials are re-entering those manual bookings.
The jail books about 100 inmates a day and releases about the same number. Officials say the shutdown did not impact security at either facility.
