The Wisconsin Supreme Court has revoked a Mequon attorney’s license over his disbarment in Illinois.

Friday’s discipline stems from an Office of Lawyer Regulation complaint filed Oct. 13 referencing how the Supreme Court of Illinois disbarred David Silberman last year for transferring more than $460,000 worth of real estate escrow money from his trust account into the operating account of a business he owned while he was an attorney for a title insurance company in Illinois.

The transfers were not for any use related to the escrow accounts. Silberman eventually transferred some of the money back. But more than $180,000 was not returned, according to the complaint.

The OLR had asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to impose reciprocal discipline on Silberman by revoking his license, and Silberman recently assented to that request.

The justices, in a per curiam decision released Friday, agreed.
