KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — A man being retried in the 1998 poisoning death of his wife in Kenosha County will remain jailed on more than $1 million bond.

A Kenosha County judge has rejected a defense motion to lower Mark Jensen’s bond to $300,000.

The Kenosha News reports defense attorney Deja Vishny argued Tuesday that Jensen was not a flight risk because he had made hundreds of mandatory check-ins since he was first convicted in 2008 in the death of Julie Jensen.

Mark Jensen’s conviction was overturned in 2013 when a federal appeals court ruled a letter written by his wife before her death should not have been admitted as evidence. Julie Jensen wrote that she suspected her husband wanted to kill her. The letter cannot be used when Mark Jensen is retried.
