Leaders of the State Bar of Wisconsin will meet Friday to, among other things, consider whether to back certain proposals for court rules changes and whether to change the venue for its 2019 annual meeting.
The Board of Governors will meet at 3 p.m. at the Lake Lawn Resort, 2400 E. Geneva St., Delavan.
The board’s members are elected to lead the bar. Among the things the board will be considering Friday are whether to approve the appointment of members to a nomination committee for the April 2017 election and whether to back two proposals from the Judicial Council to change the rules of evidence and related statutes.
The board will also decide whether to change the venue for its 2019 annual meeting from the Wisconsin Dells to Green Bay.
The governors are also scheduled to consider whether it will back a proposal to change to the court’s rules involving limited-scope representation so that mediators can draft legal documents in the mediations they conduct.
The bar’s Ethics Committee and Family Law Committee have voted to support to proposal, though it has not yet been filed with the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
