MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Milwaukee County district attorney who led an investigation into Gov. Scott Walker after his 2012 recall victory has won re-election.
John Chisholm defeated challenger Verona Swanigan on Tuesday. Swanigan, an attorney, was backed by conservatives who were critical of Chisholm’s investigation into Walker. Outside groups also spent heavily in the race against Chisholm.
The Dane County District Attorney also won re-election Tuesday. Ismael Ozanne defeated a challenge from a prosecutor within his own office, Robert Jambois (JAM-boyz).
Neither face an opponent in the Nov. 8 general election.
Ozanne was appointed as district attorney in 2010 and ran unopposed in 2012. He ran unsuccessfully for state attorney general in 2014 but lost the Democratic primary.
