MILWAUKEE (AP) — Republican lawyer and lobbyist Richard Graber has been named CEO and president of the Milwaukee-based Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Graber was named Thursday to succeed Michael Grebe, who announced last year he’d be stepping down after 14 years leading the powerful conservative foundation.
The $850 million foundation has financially backed public policy experiments in Wisconsin like welfare reform, public vouchers for private schools and curbs on collective bargaining and unions.
Graber, currently a board member, will start as CEO July 18.
The 59-year-old led the state Republican party from 1999 to 2005 and is currently vice president of global relations for Honeywell International. He was previously a prominent Milwaukee attorney and ambassador to the Czech Republic under President George W. Bush.
