A state Court of Appeals judge has announced that he will not run for another term.
District 4 Court of Appeals Judge Paul Higginbotham will not run for his seat in the April election, according to a news release Wednesday.
Higginbotham has been a judge for 23 years. He was elected to the Dane County Circuit Court in 1994 and appointed in 1992 by Mayor Paul Soglin to be Madison’s first municipal court judge. Gov. Jim Doyle appointed Higginbotham to the Court of Appeals in 2003.
The judge’s last day on the court will be July 31, 2017.
