Former officer pleads guilty to stealing cash evidence

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A former Madison police officer has pleaded guilty to public corruption charges.

Thirty-one-year-old Andrew Pullum, of Verona, was accused of stealing nearly $4,000 in cash he found as evidence in the trunk of a car during an investigation in December 2015. The FBI planted the cash as they investigated Pullum following a citizen’s tip to Madison police.

The FBI arrested Pullum at a Madison police station the following day. Federal authorities say most of the money was recovered at Pullum’s home following his arrest.

He faces a maximum 10 years in federal prison when he’s sentenced Aug. 23.
