The State Bar of Wisconsin has named a La Crosse attorney as the recipient of its top award for senior lawyers.
The State Bar’s senior lawyers division named David Russell the recipient of the 2016 Leonard L. Loeb Award, according to a news release.
He will receive the award at the State Bar’s annual meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 16 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay.
The award recognizes a Wisconsin lawyer who is older than 60 and who has made significant contributions to the community, shown respect for the legal system and love for the law, according to the release.
Russell was nominated by several La Crosse-area groups for his contributions to the community and the professionalism and care he has shown in his legal practice.
Russell is a partner at Hale, Skemp, Hanson, Skemp & Selik, in La Crosse. His practice specialties include bankruptcy, Social Security disability, business and real-estate law, as well as estate planning. He has also spent the past 30 years as a farm-mediation specialist.
Russell earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1979. Follow @erikastrebel
