MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Dane County judge has given two life prison sentences to an 18-year-old man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend’s sister and her mother’s boyfriend in 2015.
Dean Sutcliffe was sentenced Friday after earlier pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide. He was accused of fatally shooting 16-year-old Ariyl Brady and 39-year-old Christopher Schwichtenberg at a trailer home near Mazomanie in February 2015. Sutcliffe was 17 at the time.
Circuit Judge David Flanagan made Sutcliffe eligible in 2040 to first petition a court for release on extended supervision. Flanagan made the two life sentences concurrent, instead of making them consecutive as prosecutors had asked.
Prosecutors asked for Sutcliffe to be made eligible for extended supervision after serving 25 to 30 years for each victim.
