APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — A jury has found a 30-year-old man guilty of first-degree intentional homicide in connection with a 2013 fatal shooting at an Appleton nightclub.
Post-Crescent Media reports Chong Lee was convicted Wednesday in the death of 25-year-old Joshua Richards of Green Bay, who was shot at the former Luna Lounge. Jury deliberations lasted about four hours. Richards’ mother, Jackie Pische, said the family is “thrilled with the verdict.”
In closing arguments, Outagamie County District Attorney Carrie Schneider argued Lee shot Richards and told multiple people he was the shooter. The defense maintained Lee was innocent and was the focus of police because of investigative missteps.
Defense attorneys declined to comment after the court adjourned.
The judge did not immediately set a sentencing date.
