EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) — An Eau Claire man is charged with homicide by driving drunk in the death of a Fall Creek woman.
Prosecutors say John Severson was intoxicated and driving a vehicle that struck and killed Vanessa Rossano and injured two others in another vehicle on Jan. 17. According to the criminal complaint, Severson’s blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit when he struck the two other vehicles on Highway 12 in the town of Washington.
He’s also charged with reckless endangerment. WQOW-TV reports bond was set at $2,500 in court Tuesday. Severson’s attorney says the defendant is currently in a treatment program, but did not elaborate.
The 45-year-old Severson is also a defendant in a civil wrongful death case filed by the victim’s family.
