bradley-kloppenburg-cvrMILWAUKEE (AP) — A watchdog group says fundraising and spending in the Wisconsin Supreme Court primary suggests a flood of money will pour into the race between incumbent Rebecca Bradley and JoAnne Kloppenburg.

Justice at Stake reported Wednesday that the candidates, including failed challenger Joe Donald, raised almost $1 million combined, and total broadcast TV ad spending hit nearly $725,000.

The money rushed in for a race that drew a small number of voters. The spending has become a campaign issue with Donald and Kloppenburg decrying “dark money” spent on a position intended to be nonpartisan.

Justice at Stake’s executive director, Susan Liss, says the spending sets a disturbing pace.

The group says Bradley received support from about $440,000 in TV spending from conservative group Wisconsin Alliance for Reform, which doesn’t disclose donors.
