MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has appointed two new retired judges to serve on the Government Accountability Board before it disappears.

The governor announced Monday he has picked Edward Leineweber and Victor Manian to serve on the board. Leineweber worked as a Richland County judge from 1997 to 2011. Manian, a former Milwaukee County judge, served on the GAB previously from 2008 to 2009.

They will replace Thomas Barland of Eau Claire and Elsa Lamelas of Shorewood. Barland’s term expired in 2015 and Lamelas resigned from the board on Dec. 28.

The GAB, a group of six retired judges, oversees Wisconsin elections and administers state ethics laws. The governor signed a bill last month that eliminates the board in July and replaces it with two partisan commissions.
