A general practitioner from Minocqua and a bankruptcy attorney from Oshkosh are running for State Bar president.
John Danner and Paul Swanson accepted nominations to run for 2016 State Bar of Wisconsin president-elect, according to a news release. The president-elect serves a one-year term before becoming president.
Danner is an attorney with Harrold, Scrobell & Danner S.C. in Minocqua. He earned his degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and has practiced in Wisconsin since 1979. His areas of practice include family law, real estate and general litigation.
Swanson is an attorney with Oshkosh-based Steinhilber, Swanson, Mares, Marone & McDermott. He earned his degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1979. He primarily represents debtors and specializes in bankruptcy and insolvency.
The nominees for secretary are Ann Brandau, Brandau & Waltz Law Offices LLP, La Crosse, and Mary Donohue, Sheboygan. The secretary serves a two-year term.
The candidates for the bar’s representative on the Judicial Council are Sherry Coley, Davis & Kuelthau, Milwaukee, and Charles Stertz, Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office, Appleton. The council is charged with recommending changes to the rules governing the state’s court system.The council representative serves three years.
Bar members are set to vote in April. Election ballots will be mailed no later than April 8 and must be returned by April 22.
