The state’s interim director of state courts will continue in his post for another year.

Denis Moran, who Chief Justice Pat Roggensack appointed in June after her colleagues on the Wisconsin Supreme Court voted her into office, will extend his contract for another year, Roggensack said.

He started the job June 4, agreeing to work as the interim director of state courts for six months.

Roggensack made the announcement at the State of the Judiciary Address on Wednesday morning in Middleton.

Moran was director of state courts from 1978 to 2003, when he retired. He was the court system’s first director of state courts after the court reorganization of 1978 and is one of the only two people to have ever held the position.
