MILWAUKEE (AP) — Two men have been ordered to stand trial in last year’s fatal shooting of a 5-year-old Milwaukee girl.

Twenty-year-old Carl Barrett Jr. and 24-year-old Paul Farr appeared in court for a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Barrett is charged with first-degree reckless homicide. Farr is charged with harboring or aiding a felon. Both men pleaded not guilty. A scheduling conference is set for Nov. 16.

The two are among three men charged in the death of Laylah Petersen last November. The girl was sitting on her grandfather’s lap when she was shot. Police say the shooters targeted the wrong house.

The Journal Sentinel reports the third suspect, 23-year-old Arlis Gordon, remains in Illinois, awaiting extradition.

A vigil marking the one-year anniversary of Petersen’s death is scheduled for Nov. 6.
