Termination of Parental Rights
2015AP252
La Crosse Co. HSD v. C.J.T.
C.J.T. appeals a circuit court order terminating her parental rights to her son, J.M. C.J.T. contends that she was denied the effective assistance of counsel on five grounds, relating to counsel’s failure to object to the admission of certain testimony and the GAL’s improper invocation of the best interests of the child standard during her opening statements and closing arguments. C.J.T. also contends that the trial court erred in admitting prejudicial hearsay evidence and that the GAL had an impermissible conflict of interest. For the reasons explained below, we reject C.J.T.’s arguments and affirm.
