MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin state Assembly plans to vote next week on bills dissolving the nonpartisan state elections board to create a partisan commission and prohibiting the use of secret John Doe investigations into political crimes.

The Assembly plans to take them up on Tuesday along with a bill rewriting the state’s campaign finance laws to double the amount of contributions candidates can receive.

Al three bills are staunchly opposed by Democrats and among the most contentions measures the Legislature is considering this year. The Assembly is also scheduled to vote on allowing online voter registration.

Republicans support all of the bills and have majority control of the Assembly.

All three must also pass the Senate and be signed by Gov. Scott Walker before they become law.
