The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments at the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Argument for three cases will begin at noon Monday in Room 2260 of the Law Building, 975 Bascom Hall, and last for about 1-1/2 hours.

The panel of judges will hear arguments from the following cases:

  • United States v. Melendez and Lambert challenges a district court’s calculation of heroin attributed to one defendant and the reasonableness of the other defendant’s sentence;
  • Martinez and Vallejo v. United States, in which the court will determine whether life sentences violate Eighth Amendment and whether the defendants’ sentencing hearings were individualized as discussed in the court’s decision in Miller v. Alabama.
