The Wisconsin Department of Justice has received federal money to process sexual-assault evidence kits that have not yet been tested.
State Attorney General Brad Schimel announced Thursday that the DOJ has received a $4 million grant for that purpose.
The money is coming throug the District Attorney of New York, which will pay for testing the kits, according to the release. The second grant, which is from the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance, will be used to track the kits, improve investigation and prosecution of cases and offer more services to victims of sexual assault.
