RHINELANDER, Wis. (AP) — One of the four men accused of beating a man for several days in Forest County and leaving him in the woods to die has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Oneida County Judge Michael Bloom went beyond prosecutors’ recommendation of 16 years in sentencing Justin Bey Tuesday. Bloom also ordered $40,000 in restitution.
Bey previously pleaded guilty to four charges, including attempted homicide. The victim survived the beating.
WLUK-TV reports prosecutors say the defendants’ claim the victim inappropriately touched a child were unfounded.
