MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Janesville man has been charged with his 10th drunken driving offense after authorities say he was found asleep at the wheel while sitting at a traffic light.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports 52-year-old Mark La Veen was charged Tuesday in a Dane County court. According to a criminal complaint, a police officer in Fitchburg walked up to a car sitting at a stoplight early Saturday and found La Veen asleep with his foot on the brake.
According to the complaint, the officer shook La Veen and he woke up. The complaint says a preliminary breath test showed La Veen’s blood-alcohol content was 0.08.
According to online court records, La Veen was represented by a public defender at Tuesday’s court appearance. It wasn’t immediately clear who his attorney was.
