BELOIT, Wis. (AP) — A judge has ruled a Beloit man is competent to stand trial in the death of his ex-girlfriend.
Forty-one-year-old Christopher Rutherford is accused of running over 47-year-old Sheila Rosenbaum of Beloit with her van and killing her on May 11. He’s charged with first-degree reckless homicide.
The Beloit Daily News reports Rutherford’s attorney told a court hearing Tuesday that a psychological evaluation requested by the defense determined Rutherford is competent.
Rock County Judge Richard Werner accepted the report and scheduled Rutherford’s trial for April 27.
